For this project I painted depictions of the 4 elements, but on myself. This project used many different techniques I learned in this course such as shading, color theory, and texture. It was interesting to work with body paint because I have never used it before, so it was fun to work out how best to use it. I decided to paint the elements because I knew they would each be very unique and different from each other, which allowed me to use a lot of different textures and colors

My art project for celebrations of learning is a multimedia piece. Originally I was going to use paint, pencil and colored pencil but the picture I decided to use was a flower and a background of sky and grass so I decided to just use paints and colored pencils. I divided my canvas into 3 sections, the two corners and the middle of the canvas. I drew a flower mainly in the middle section and the background mainly in the two separated corners. I started with paint and painted the flower and the grass that was in the middle section and on the 2 corners I used colored pencils to complete the picture using the background. With the colored pencils, I drew grass, sky, a sun and a cloud. I chose to do this project because I wanted to show a little of everything we did in class, most of our projects was about nature, that's why I decided to do a flower and we used paints and colored pencils for our projects in class so that's why I chose to use paint and colored pencils for my project.

This is my celebration project for it, it's supposed to represent emotion in art. The specific emotion used here is fear. I used dark colors to help represent this, I used as much red as possible because I feel red is the color of fear along with black and mainly dark colors. I used the jokers smile as one of my inspirations for this picture cause what can make you more uneasy than a psychopath's smile. That wraps up my project which I've titled “the smile”
“Peaceful Warrior” by Coby S.
The Peaceful Valor is a drawing of war hero Desmond Doss who was a medic in World War II. From a young age, Desmond promised himself that he would not carry a gun or harm anyone. Once World War II started, he wanted to contribute his medical skills to the military by being a conscientious objector. He did not carry a gun and was sent to Okinawa and he saved and rescued a total of 75 soldiers during this battle. Desmond was later given the Medal of Honor from the army, the medal shown on his neck. The use of color on the medal was to show how he deserves the respect that he got from his country. It shows a glimpse of the beauty that he was contributing to, while also showing the dark and sad days that he had to face while in Okinawa. I used techniques that were taught in class with pencils and colored pencils in order to make this project.
“turmoil” by Clara Y.
This art project represents inner conflict and the cognitive distortion of catastrophizing. I was inspired to create this piece by my own personal experiences. I also hoped to represent some of the negative emotions evoked by the pandemic that many people have experienced and can relate to.

This project is a recreation of an image I had previously long admired. The picture depicts a girl who wears a wolf mask on the back of her head. The interpretation of this piece I attribute to the idea of the duality of man, and who one presents themself to be versus the uncouth nature of the shadow self.

I painted a fireplace because it is fitting for this time of year. I sketched out my idea and painted it with different water coloring techniques.

For my Art Celebrations of Learning painting, I painted a picture of a pond, including a tree and a swing, with mountains in the background. To me, this painting represents peace because it reminds me of a place that would be peaceful. In class, I learned about how colors can be seen as having emotion to them. That is why I included some bright colors because to me, bright colors represent peacefulness such as blue and green. We also learned about how you can use different shading techniques in painting such as using the same color in brighter or darker shades.
In this painting, I want people to get a sense of peace from looking at it. This could be from using your imagination by imagining yourself in mine or your own peaceful place. In doing this project, I learned several different things such as learning how to use oil paint, learning how to paint landscapes, and learning how to use my imagination and emotions to express how I feel. In conclusion, I hope people see the emotion that I put behind this painting, and are able to learn and see how emotion can be displayed through art form.

Art and Design is a class which is inclusive for art students of all levels, and which engages the student body in a variety of artistic mediums – such as painting, sketching, and mixed media. My project explored both pottery and color theory. The larger pot was inspired from a sketch I made within the class, wherein the entire painting was composed of a single color with varying shades. The color theory of said pot illustrates the warmer spectrum. The other pot explores contrasting colors, and adopts color theory to produce complementary yet fundamentally opposed shades.
I decided to make this project because I wanted to explore pottery making, and implement color theory into the design. Understanding paint as a medium was also highly informative – as was watching the difference in brightness pre- and post furnacing the work, and the different ways in which paint can be explored or altered.

For my COL this semester, I decided to do a stained glass project of the primary colors. One of the main things we learned and studied this semester was how to mix colors, and i thought that stained glass would be a perfect way to show that. Seeing the colors overlap in the glass was a perfect way to show and explain how colors mix together. I really enjoyed art this year, and really enjoyed making this project! I'm really happy with how it turned out

In art this semester we learned about shading techniques, sketching, colors, painting, etc. I enjoyed painting in class, so I decided that I wanted to do an acrylic painting, and I love polar bears, so that is what I decided to make. The process was fairly simple, I painted about 3-4 layers of white, then I lightly sketched the outline of the bear, the skyline, and the ocean, as well as the northern lights. After this I started painting the bear’s fur, then the ground, then the ocean, then the sky, and finally the northern lights. I hope you like my painting as much as I do.
